Criterion A: Knowledge or Understanding of the Text or Extract
- 7 because I referenced information outside of the text given showing that I had an understanding of the book and the themes that were present
Criterion B: Understanding of the use and Effects of Literary Features
- 7 because I feel like I hit on a lot of the techniques but sometimes I was not clear on how the techniques affected the meaning of the text
Criterion C: Organization
- 5 I broke it down between 3 themes that I focused on for part of the time
Criterion D: Language
- 3 because I could have used better words and I feel like I was basically just throwing up all the information and wasn't using more critical analytical terms

    Andrew: Remember that this is an analysis of the passage, so spend a brief amount of time summarizing the text and a brief amount of time summarizing the passage- this should be about 1 minute MAX. Additionally, be sure to establish a thesis that gives the purpose of the passage and HOW it's developed. That's what you want to discuss- a lot of your commentary veers on just paraphrasing and no actual analysis of what Atwood is doing, HOW she's doing it (techniques) and WHY she's doing it (the effect on reader).

Huie, Wing Young.  4th Of July Fireworks over a Lake . tmblr.co/ZYwbvwOiQSBt. This picture by Wing Young Huie was taken on the Fourth of July.  It depicts three people in the bottom left corner standing in front of a pong or lake and watching fireworks as they shoot up in the sky, lighting it up.  It is a very peaceful night, with a clear sky and very little to no actions taking place except for the fireworks.  Assuming that it is the Fourth of July, it can be inferred that more than just the three people are watching the fireworks, especially because there are multiple lights on in the houses across the lake.  On a deeper examination, these three people are crowded together, potentially just soaking in the moment and savoring the American spirit.  Also, it is noticed that there is a lot of smoke under the fireworks, signifying that the fireworks have been going on for a little while.  Due to it being night time, the details in the...

Charbroiled Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich and Taco  . Carl's Jr. and Hardee's, 2014. This woman on a beach with a Hardees bag is an  advertisement for buying their new fish sandwich.  It portrays a gorgeous model with the perfect body at a flawless beach.  She is looking seductively at the camera while showing off her curves.  This advertisement obviously is aimed at promoting the new items at Hardees by showing men what they want; a girl in no clothes at the beach.  Everything about this picture can be seen as perfect because what more could any man want?  It says to you that if you buy Hardees then all of this could be yours.   In terms of the deeper meaning behind this picture, I believe that there is none.  It shows exactly what you want to see and that if you buy some Hardees then you'll be living the life.  The deeper meaning falls instead with which deadly sins are present.  It can obviously be seen that ...

1. How I would describe the “American Dream” The American Dream in my opinion is having a normal job that pays very comfortably.  The American Dream is stepping out of Church on a Sunday afternoon, putting on my Ray Bands, and climbing into my new and freshly waxed Porsche with my babe wife (look at that irony with how coming out of church I should be more giving towards other people rather than flexing my wealth, but hey that's my dream right now).  As a whole, the American Dream is an idea that reflects the wants of people inside of a time period.  It is what the biggest trends are, the slang, what people do or what sports people follow.  I believe that it is what everyone imagines success to both look and feel like.  Back in the 1920's, Fitzgerald told it to look like parties and getting drunk every night, following the motto of living in the heat of the moment(YOLO). 2.
